Volusion Integration is Hectic!! Why?

Volusion has risen over the last few decades into a leading eCommerce store. 1.      Not all fields are exposed

In the export section, various data fields that are available to store admin are not accessible. In the customer section ‘Customer Reward Points’ field is a case of such fields. This field is present in the customer detail page, special Privileges section. But this same field is not present in the Standard Export of Customer table.

2.      Data retrieval becomes complex and comprehensive too

For many times, it becomes essential to combine the data from multiple tables using custom SQLs. Suppose, in specific product category you need to retrieve all those customers with order total greater than $300 in the last quarter. In Volusion, there are two sections where you could write custom SQLs: Saved Export and Report Section. However, writing custom SQLs can be a difficult task depending on the complexity of the information user needs to retrieve.

3.      Limited APIs

Volusion has numerous tables to keep the data. Yet Volusion Development Services1 only offers 4 APIs to integrate its own data: Customer, Order, Product and Shipping/Tracking Info. Nevertheless these APIs may be enough for smaller stores with integration needs, there may be situation where you need to access other data using APIs. 

4.      Custom Filters with Real-time Data Retrieval

In volusion, you can make a custom report or saved export, but it does not give an option to add custom filter or update an existing filter real-time. For example, you could make a custom report of all those customers who have ordered specific items between specific date ranges. But if you want to access this report programmatically and run the report for different set of products or different date range? It becomes difficult!

5.      Real-time API Integration

Volusion APIs permits you to retrieve and update data such as customer, order, product, shipping/tracking. But it does not offer methods to do real time integration with other applications.
